Privacy

Your privacy, in plain words

Pawdex is built so that we hold as little about you as possible. This page covers the Pawdex app and this website, getpawdex.com. Last updated 13 October 2026.

This website

This site has no cookies, no trackers, no analytics and no adverts. It loads nothing from other companies: no web fonts, no embedded videos, no social buttons. It does not use your browser’s local storage.

The waitlist

The waitlist form does not send anything to a server. It opens your own email app with a message to hello@getpawdex.com (a mailto link) and your address filled in. Nothing is sent unless you press send in your email app. If you do, we keep your address only to tell you when Pawdex launches, and we delete it on request.

Photos

In the app, animals are identified on your phone. Your photos stay on your phone and are not uploaded to us. A photo whose main subject is a person is refused.

Location

The app uses your phone’s motion and location to stop catching while you move faster than 10 km/h. Where a catch location is kept, it is coarsened to a grid of about 500 m, never an exact spot, so nobody can be traced to a home or an animal’s hiding place.

Accounts

There is no Pawdex account and no email sign-up in the app. The shared world uses your iCloud sign-in through Apple’s CloudKit, which gives the game an anonymous ID, never your name or Apple ID. What is shared is only: the kind of animal you snapped (such as “ginger cat”), the creature made for it, a generated trainer name (never typed by you), your team for battles and arenas, and battle results. Your photos, your pet’s nickname and any exact location are never shared, and a partner pet snap records no location at all. Your own copies and your partner are stored on your phone.

Children

Pawdex is designed for players aged 13 and over. There are no adverts aimed at children and no paid loot boxes.
